OP Pohjola is a financial services provider owned by its customers. Its mission includes promoting the prosperity of OP cooperative banks' owner-customers. OP cooperative banks use their profits (in the form of benefits and discounts, such as OP bonuses) to benefit their customers.

Use our intuitive OP bonus calculator to calculate the OP bonuses you could earn. This will provide you with an estimate of the OP bonuses you will accumulate from service use during the year.

"In practice, customers can benefit by using their OP bonuses to reduce their insurance bills or to invest in a fund, for example," says Karoliina Pentti, VP, Personal Customers, at OP Pohjola.

The more services an owner-customer uses, and the greater the value of such services, the more benefits they'll receive from their OP cooperative bank.

"The OP bonus calculator can be used to estimate how personal OP bonuses, or those earned by all adults living in the same household, will accumulate. In other words, OP bonuses can be earned collectively in households."

Our intuitive OP bonus calculator – you only need five facts

You need to enter only five figures in the OP bonus calculator. The calculator will then estimate the OP bonuses earned in a year, and the equivalent amount in euros.

What information do you need to enter? OP bonuses can be earned from secured loans, fund investments, money in savings accounts, insurance premiums and unsecured credit, hire purchase and leasing. Estimated amounts are good enough.

For example, customers can use their OP bonuses to pay their bank service charges or insurance premiums, or invest them in a fund.

"Owner-customers earn OP bonuses automatically, based on the total of transactions and service use; OP bonuses are paid at the start of each month based on the previous month's figures. For example, owner-customers can use OP bonuses to pay bank service charges or insurance premiums, or invest them in a fund," Pentti explains.

Customers can use OP-mobile and the op.fi online service to keep track of their OP bonus accounts.

"I do most of my banking and insurance on OP-mobile, where it's easy to monitor my OP bonuses," adds Pentti.

OP bonuses won't go unused, even by accident

You don't need to stand guard over the OP bonus system, or do any planning. By default, the system uses OP bonuses for bank and insurance charges, just as it did before its renewal in early 2026.

"This ensures that benefits and discounts do not go unused. Our system takes care of it all on the customer's behalf," Pentti says.

If you want, you can change the default selections and invest your OP bonuses in a fund, use them to pay for legal services, or receive them as cash. Nowadays, OP bonuses no longer expire, even after years go by.

Pentti points out that the best way to track your OP bonuses and benefits is through the OP bonuses view in OP-mobile, which shows the latest information.

Owning your bank pays off

Owner-customer status means having part ownership of your bank. Each owner-customer can own only one share in a cooperative and there are no other owners besides the owner-customers.

"The OP cooperative banks are cooperatives whose purpose is to generate as many benefits as possible for their members, and to allocate such benefits well. Benefits are earned based on the amount and scope of service use," Pentti says.

Owner-customer status also creates a personal relationship with your bank. For example, this includes the opportunity to influence decision-making in your OP cooperative bank.

"At every OP cooperative bank, decision-making involves either a Representative Assembly elected by owner-customers, or a Cooperative Meeting."

You can become an owner-customer at a branch of your OP cooperative bank or on the op.fi online service. In most cases, the membership fee is €100. This is an investment that will remain safe with your bank.

The fee will be refunded if the customer wishes to cancel their ownership. It will be refunded one year from the end of the financial year in which the owner-customer membership was cancelled.

However, OP cooperative banks have the right to refuse to refund member contributions under their bylaws. The OP cooperative bank bylaws are available on the bank's op.fi website and at the head office.
